Centre announced merger of BSNL and MTNL

The Union Cabinet has announced a revival plan for the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and decided to merge the two entities. The Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad clarified that none of the companies is being closed or divested and employees, users don't need to worry. The government will issue sovereign bonds of INR 15,000 crore to revive the two legacy telecom companies and monetise assets worth INR 38,000 crore to strengthen the firms. India issues advisory of 'utmost caution' for citizens visiting Turkey

Due to the strained relations of the two countries after President Recep Tayyip Erdoga's statement against revocation of Article 370, the government has issued an advisory of 'utmost caution' for citizen visiting the middle-east country. Though there have been no untoward incidents Indian nationals have been concerned about their travel plans to Turkey as per the tweet of Indian Embassy in Ankara. Trains to get WiFi service in next four-and-a-half years: Piyush Goyal

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, in an interview, stated that the Central govt is planning to provide WiFi service inside trains in the next four to four-and-half years. Goyal further said that in India, WiFi service is available at around 5150 railway stations and by the end of next year there will be WiFi service at all 6,500 stations. He added that it's a complicated technology subject because providing WiFi in running trains requires investment. Towers need to be put and there has to be equipment inside trains. Govt appoints Pankaj Kumar as UIDAI chief

Recently, the centre promoted and transferred 10 Indian Administrative Service(IAS) officers and 13 officers were appointed as Special Secretary. Pankaj Kumar, an additional secretary in the ministry of electronics and information technology has been appointed as CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI).
