Retail inflation jumps to a 6-year high of 7.59% in January

According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation on Wednesday, India's retail inflation jumped to a six-year high of 7.59% in the month of January 2020 led by higher vegetable prices. Food price inflation in Jan was driven by vegetables which saw 50.19% jump in prices on an annual basis followed by pulse and products, which saw 16.71% increase in prices. Maharashtra government announces a 5-day working week for state govt employees

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced five-day working week for state government employees, which will be applicable from February 29 onwards. The decision was taken at the state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. 2 Indians on ship tested positive for Coronavirus isolated off Japan until 19th February

The Indian Embassy in Japan confirmed today that two Indian crew members have tested positive for Coronavirus on a cruise ship off the Japanese coast. The ship was isolated with almost 3,700 passengers and crew members aboard on February 3. The embassy said in a statement that a passenger carrying the virus had de-boarded the ship last month in Hong Kong and also informed that it has been isolated till February 19.
