Kolkata Port Trust allows Chinese crew to enter port after being quarantined

Yesterday, 19 Chinese crew of a vessel from Shanghai via Singapore were allowed to enter Kolkata in the city of Kolkata in West Bengal after being quarantined for several hours at Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas. As per the Port officials, the thermal scanning of the crew will be done again today. Last month, in light of the spread of Coronavirus beyond China, the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) took safety precautions and the international crews arriving at the port are required to undergo thermal scans. 25 rifles, 12,061 live cartridges missing from Kerala Police, says CAG Report

In Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram city, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report on the audit of modernisation of weapons in Kerala Police has found that 25 rifles and 12,061 live cartridges are missing from Special Armed Police Battalion (SABP). The CAG report stated that stock register entries had a lot to do with writing, using white correction fluid, striking off entries, etc. It added that from the records available at SAPB, the Audit could not find any evidence of the conduct of periodic physical inspection by superior officers. Naxal, involved in murder of MLA KS Rao, surrenders before police in Odisha

Jipro Habika, a Naxal who was involved in the murder of MLA KS Rao in the Araku of Andhra Pradesh, has surrendered to the Superintendent of Police in Odisha's Malkangiri district. According to the police, Habika joined the banned group CPI (Maoist) in 2012 and was working for the Committee of the Gumma District. SC to hear Nirbhaya ase convict Vinay Sharma's plea today

Today, the Supreme Court (SC) will hear the plea of Vinay Sharma, one of the four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case. Sharma has filed a petition in the SC against the decision of the President to reject his plea for mercy. The case will be heard by Justice R Banumathi's bench today, at 10:30 IST. Yesterday, Sharma challenged the President's decision to withdraw his SC mercy petition and, through his lawyer AP Singh, called for the death penalty to be commuted to life imprisonment.
