246 elephants died in Odisha in last 3 years: Odisha govt

Odisha Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari, while speaking in the State Assembly, stated that between 2016-17 and 2018-19, a total of 246 elephants had died due to the accidents, electrocution, natural and other causes in Odisha in the last three years. Arukh further said that the state govt has taken several steps to protect elephants including setting up jumbo reserves at Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, and Mahanadi to conserve their prime habitats and the govt has also launched various management interventions. People who tested negative for Coronavirus discharged from ITBP quarantine facility

The Indo-Tibetian Border Police (ITBP) has informed that people quarantined at its facility in Delhi's Chhawla have started leaving for their homes after they have been found negative for Coronavirus. As per media reports, it is expected that about 200 people may leave for their destinations from the ITBP facility at Chhawla. The reports added that all the people may be released by today evening. The ITBP also presented a rose and a calendar to each of the persons leaving the facility. The govt also provided conveyance to all the people. Src: https://bit.ly/3282D8z

Harsh Vardhan felicitates doctors, nurses part of Wuhan evacuation

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, during the felicitation ceremony, handed over the letter of appreciation from the PM Modi to 10 doctors and nursing officers who were part of the team that was successful in evacuating 645 Indian citizens and 7 Maldives citizens from China's Wuhan and stated that strength through diversity gets expression in the collective effort. India-Russia defence deals set will cross $16 bn, will include S-400 systems & rifles

India and Russia signed 14 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during the recent Defexpo 2020 in Lucknow that covered development and production of land, air and naval systems and hi-tech civilian products. It also included defence deals between the two countries which is set to cross $16 billion mark. The deal will include a supply of S-400 air defence systems and production of Kalashnikov rifles and Kamov helicopters. India has plans to buy 200 Ka-226 helicopters from Russia and as per reports, India made the first payment of $850 million last year for the $5.4-billion deal for five S-400 systems through a special mechanism worked out by the two sides.
