To support revocation of Article 370, Kashmiri Pandits hold rally in US

Following the Abrogation of Article 370 in India, the Kashmiri Pandit community last week in front of the CNN headquarters in Atlanta, USA held a rally in support of the abrogation of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The rally highlighted the fact that these temporary articles related to Jammu and Kashmir needed these modifications as these were highly discriminatory against almost all Kashmiri minorities. They believed that under this new freedom courtesy of the Modi Government, India’s Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and other minorities will now have a better chance to be equals before the law. Six petitioners including former Air Vice Marshal Kapil Kak and Retired Major General Ashok Mehta, have moved to the Supreme Court challenging the Jammu & Kashmir (Reorganisation) Act, 2019, and the abrogation of Article 370. The petitioners have claimed that the amendments affect the principles on which the state of Jammu and Kashmir was integrated into India and especially as they had no affirmation from the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They want that the presidential orders should be declared unconstitutional and the Centre should stop the move. Src:https://bit.ly/33DkPYh
