Ministry of Rural Development sanctions 18,338 additional houses for Tripura under PMAY-G

The Union Ministry of Rural Development sanctioned 18,338 additional houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) for Tripura for the financial year 2019-20. Following the sanction, the first installment of the central share of INR 109.10 Cr was also released for the construction of additional houses. PMAY is the govt of India's housing initiative launched in 2015 to provide affordable housing for urban and rural poor, aiming to build 20 million affordable housing units by March 2020. Impasse over RTC ends; workers can resume duty from tomorrow: Chandrashekar Rao

Ending an impasse over Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) workers' strike that lasted almost two months, CM K Chandrashekar Rao said that employees can happily join the services from tomorrow. Rao further said that the Govt will sanction INR 100 Cr to the RTC for immediate working capital and increase the ticket fare by 20 paise to help the RTC generate more revenue. Affiliate of RSS supports BHU professor; students called off protest

Banaras Hindu University (BHU)’s students who were protesting on the appointment of a Muslim professor Firoze Khan for teaching Sanskrit has called off their protest. However, students would boycott classes if the administration fails to answer their questions in 10 days. Meanwhile, an affiliate of the RSS, Samskrita Bharati came in the support of Khan and stated that there was a misunderstanding connected to the subject ‘Dharma Shastra’ and it doesn’t mean religion. Delhi's air quality remains 'very poor', AQI reaches 339

Today, the people of Delhi breathed toxic air after the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 339 making the air quality in the 'very poor' category. In Delhi's Lodhi Road, the air quality improved as the PM10 pollutants decreased to 187 and the PM2.5 pollutants were 327. In Mathura Road, the PM10 pollutants were 346 while PM2.5 pollutants were 361. AQI ranging from 51-100 is considered as 'satisfactory', 101-200 is said to be in the 'moderate' category, 201-300 falls in the 'poor' category, 301-400 is said to be in the 'very poor' category while 401-500 falls in 'hazardous' category.
