Punjab to release 550 prisoners as humanitarian gesture on Guru Nanak's birth anniversary

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has announced his govt's decision to release 550 prisoners as a humanitarian gesture on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Singh also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for accepting the state govt's proposal to grant remission to nine Sikh prisoners across the country and appreciated the Centre's decision to accept the state's plea for the release of TADA prisoners who had completed their sentence and whose release wasn't perceived to be prejudicial to the pease and security of Punjab or the country. He added that these prisoners had served their time and were now old men who deserved the chance to be reunited with their families and spend the remaining time of their lives with their kin. PM Modi urges people to share surplus sweets and gifts with deprived section of society on festival

PM Narendra Modi, in his 57th episode of monthly radio address 'Mann Ki Baat' said, "On one hand, when we experience the 'Delivery In' of sweets and gifts, let us think for a movement on the process of 'Delivery out'. At least in our homes, items that are in excess and thus, not required anymore, could be allocated for 'Delivery out'". Akhilesh Yadav slams Centre over hefty traffic fines

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav slammed the Centre for imposing increased penalties under the Motor Vehicle Act 2019. Yadav on his Twitter handle stated, "The new rule of challans implemented by the BJP ruled state govt's are anti-people and oppressive. The BJP implemented this act only in those places where it can challenge the decisive leadership and can take strict action". Yadav added that it is a beginning among BJP leaders to oppose excessive centralisation. Delhi: Enjoyed a ‘good’ air day for the first time since July 2017

Registered among the most polluted city, Delhi had breathed the cleanest air in more than two years. The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi was enhanced from 53 on Friday to 49, a level at which it is considered to be “good”.
