Amazon India plans to eliminate single-use plastic in its packaging by June 2020

E-commerce giant Amazon India on Wednesday said it aims to eliminate single-use plastic from its packaging by June 2020 as part of its sustainability efforts in the country. The company said that it is aggressively developing plastic-free alternatives for packaging mailers, bubble bags, stretch wrap and tape used in the packaging which will help the company eliminate all forms of plastic used in its packaging. Environment-friendly and fully-recyclable packaging solution has already been launched in select warehouses and will be extended across all Amazon FCs in the country by the year-end. PM Modi: Russia will train Indian astronauts for 'Gaganyaan' mission

In a joint press meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that Russia will train the Indian astronauts for the country's ambitious manned space mission, the 'Gaganyaan'. The total fund requirement for the Gaganyaan Programme is nearly Rs 10,000 crore. Two unmanned flights and one manned flight will be undertaken as part of Gaganyaan programme. Uttrakhand CM announces free travel in buses to ART centres for HIV patience

Uttrakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, at a fourth meeting of the State AIDS Council, held at the Secretariat, expressed that people who are inhabitants of the state and undergoing HIV treatment would now be able to benefit free travel service in the state buses to Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ATR) centres and also will be given Rs 1,000 as a pension. Rawat further advised the officials that a study should be conducted on AIDS and its causes in the state so that propose of comprising the State AIDS Council can be fulfilled. He included that in order to prevent and control of diseases, public awareness programs should be led occasionally with special days like National Voluntary Blood Donation Day and World AIDS Day. Uttar Pradesh: Man sets world record for reading continuously for 27 hrs

In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur region, a student of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaja University, Allaudin, has created a new history by reading continuously in "reading aloud marathon" for 27 hours and five minutes and made it to the Golden Book of World Records. Allaudin, in an interview, stated, "I want to thank my teachers at my university for believing in me and I have learnt a lot while performing this task. I have broken the previous record of the man from Algeria of 24 hours of continuous reading and made a new world record of 27 hours five minutes".
