Monetary policy committee (MPC) predicts downward economic growth in India

Recently, the Monetary policy committee predicted that there could be more interest rate cut down by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as some of the committee members have observed that growth is yet to go down, even as two members pointed out rising inflation expectations. According to a media report, one of the members, M.D. Patra stated that the state of the economy will likely get worse before it gets better. The RBI had reduced interested rates by 25 basis point in the policy. High-frequency data on indicators for estimating quarterly growth suggest that the growth slowdown may continue in the second quarter of 2019-20. Src: https://bit.ly/31twTZJ

IIT-Kharagpur graduate develops a device to curb vehicular air pollution

Recently the IIT-Kharagpur graduate identified as Debayan Saha has taken a leap to curb the air pollution. He has invented a device called "PM 2.5", which can curb the polluted air when fitted near the silencer pipe in vehicles. The inventor Saha said that “The technology developed by us uses a combination of electric energy and wave energy to influence the pollutants like PM 2.5 such that they act like a magnet attracting other particulate pollutants from the ambient atmosphere to get attached to it. As they grow bigger in size they become heavy and fall off safely on the ground like soil.” Src: https://bit.ly/35N06Cn
