Stage set for swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi and his new cabinet today.

Along with a new Union council of ministers, PM Narendra Modi will take oath for a second term today. Top opposition leaders, including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, CMs from several states, film personalities and international will watch President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy to the Modi and his ministerial colleagues in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. More than 5,600-plus guests are expected to attend the ceremony at the forecourt.

Narendra Modi is all set to take oath for his second term as Prime Minister today at 7:30 pm. Leaders of the BIMSTEC countries will be attending PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony, keeping in line with the government's 'Neighbourhood First' policy. The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation is a regional grouping of countries like Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, and Bhutan. Win Myint (President of Myanmar), Pravind Kumar Jugnauth (PM of Mauritius), Abdul Hamid (President of Bangladesh), Superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan (Actor & politician), Arvind Kejriwal (Delhi CM), Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli (Nepalese PM), Grisada Boonrach (Special Envoy of Thailand), Sooronbay Jeenbekov (President of the Kyrgyz Republic), Maithripala Sirisena (Sri Lankan President), Dr. Lotay Tshering (PM of Bhutan) and K Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana CM) will be attending the swearing-in ceremony today.

Nitish Kumar's JD(U) formally decides to join Modi Government.

Bihar's ruling JD(U) decided to join Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre. A senior JD(U) functionary who attended the meet said, "Our president Nitish Kumar will decide as to who will be the ministers from JD(U) in the Modi government". He further asked, "If Ram Villas Paswan's LJP, can get one cabinet berth with six members in the Lok Sabha, why JD(U), having 16 MPs in the LS and six in the Rajya Sabha, cannot get three berths?" Another decision taken by the party at the JD(U) national office-bearers meeting is to hold its national executive in Patna on June 9.

Amit Shah, Ravi Shankar Prasad & Smriti Irani cease to be members of Rajya Sabha

The Rajya Sabha secretariat said that the BJP president Amit Shah, Union Ministers Ravi Shankar, and Smriti Irani and DMK leader Kanimozhi have ceased to be the members of the Upper House of Parliament after elected to the Lok Sabha. The BJP will be using these three vacancies to bring in leaders like its ally LJP chief Ram Villas Paswan, to the Upper House. Similarly, the two seats which will fill vacant from Gujarat, after both Shah and Irani got elected to the Lok Sabha, may be used for accommodating those leaders who have lost the election but may be given berth in the Cabinet.
