India can't sacrifice economic strength to comply with US sanctions: Nirmala Sitharaman

The Union Government cleared their stance towards US sanctions after the US imposed strong sanctions on the Venezuelan oil industry. These sanctions forced away many global customers but the Indian refiner Reliance Industries will continue to buy oil from the Russian giant Rosneft which is operating in Venezuela. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that India will comply with global sanctions including the US sanction imposed on Russia and Venezuela but not on the cost of its own strategic interest and strength. She added that India and the US are strong strategic partners and the Indian government values the partnership with the US but owns the right to stabilize the economy.
