Centre has approved a panel to speed up military purchases, push for India-manufactured weapons

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has decided to push for a high-powered committee to review the country’s defense weapons receiving the procedure to fasten the acquisition of weapons and defense systems with a special focus on life-cycle support. It will also provide impetus to the Make in India initiative to reduce usage of imported weapons. Defense minister Rajnath Singh has approved of an 11-member panel to carry out the review and asked the committee to submit its report in six months. The development comes at a time when the government put national security at the top of its agenda in its second term. Src:

International media rejects Pakistan's calls for intervention in J&K, after failed UN Security Council bid

In the 12 days since India announced its decision to abrogate Article 370, Pakistan is asking intervention from the international community against New Delhi and is endlessly trying to internationalize India's internal matter. However, Islamabad's panic calls have failed to mark its way to the international community. Moreover, international media has not taken Pakistan's media outreach seriously. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari: Will ask the public to dhulai karo guilty government officials

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said he had warned regional transport agency (RTO) officials that if a particular issue is not resolved, he would tell citizens to "dhulai karo" (beat them up). The Minister of Road Transport commented on a program from Laghu Udyog Bharti, an RSS-linked outfit working in the MSME sector. Because of red-tapism, Gadkari asked entrepreneurs to not be afraid of harassment by government officials. In reference to government officials, he said, "If you commit theft, I say you're a thief".
