Strong earthquakes felt in Southern Philippines: Kills 20, injures hundreds

In the past 2 weeks, series of powerful earthquakes were felt in Southern Philippines killing 20 people and has injured hundreds. The earthquake has damaged thousands of structures. On Oct. 16, Cotabato province, which was the epicenter of the earthquake, felt a 6.3 magnitude tremor that killed at least seven, while 13 people have died from quakes in the last 3 days. Lakshadweep witnesses heavy rain, strong winds as cyclone Maha hits Kalpeni Island

Lakshadweep's Kalpeni Island has witnessed heavy rains and strong winds bringing down several trees and causing lots of damage due to cyclone Maha. As per media reports, water has also entered residential areas and people living near coastal areas have been shifted to multipurpose halls and govt quarters. The reports included, the Indian Coast Guard has also deployed six ships and two aircraft tasked for damage assessment and for locating stranded fishing boats at sea while disaster response team are on standby for rescue and relief operations. Delhi: Suspicious bag spotted at IGI Airport, bomb detection team, dog squad at spot

In Delhi, a suspicious bag was spotted in the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport premises, after which security has been tightened at Terminal 3 of the airport. As per media reports, after receiving the information about the same at 2:00 IST on Friday, the police immediately swung into action. A bomb detection and disposal team, along with a dog squad reached the spot. The reports added that the airport premises is being sanitised.
